PS-6(1) — Information Requiring Special Protection

For information that requires special protection beyond your standard access agreement, require an additional, more specific agreement that addresses the unique handling requirements of that information.

Example 1: If employees access CUI, have them sign a CUI handling agreement that specifically addresses marking, storage, transmission, and destruction requirements. This supplements the general access agreement with CUI-specific obligations.

Example 2: For personnel with access to trade secrets or proprietary technical data, require a supplemental nondisclosure agreement that specifically names the types of information covered and the legal penalties for unauthorized disclosure. Track these agreements separately from general access agreements.
