This enhancement ensures that only authorized individuals can access output from devices — for example, requiring authentication before a document prints.

Example 1: Implement badge-release printing where users must tap their access badge at the printer to release their print jobs. This prevents documents from sitting uncollected in the printer tray. Solutions like PaperCut or Ricoh SmartDeviceMonitor support this.

Example 2: For network-connected multifunction printers, configure access controls so that only authorized users can access scan-to-email, fax, and copy functions. Require PIN or badge authentication for all printer functions, not just printing.
