Practitioner Notes
This enhancement requires automatic fire suppression capability — the system activates without human intervention when fire conditions are detected.
Example 1: Ensure your server room fire suppression system (clean agent like FM-200 or Novec 1230) is configured for automatic discharge upon confirmed fire detection (typically cross-zone smoke detection). Do not set it to manual-only mode, as delays during an actual fire can be catastrophic.
Example 2: For general office areas, verify that your sprinkler system is fully operational and not impaired by closed valves or maintenance activities. Test the tamper switches on all sprinkler control valves — these should alert your alarm monitoring service if a valve is closed. Inspect quarterly per NFPA 25.
