Supplemental Guidance
System backup information can be transferred to alternate storage sites either electronically or by the physical shipment of storage media.
Practitioner Notes
This enhancement requires automated transfer of backups to an alternate storage site — not relying on someone to manually copy or transport backup media.
Example 1: Configure Veeam Backup Copy jobs to automatically replicate completed backups to your secondary data center or cloud storage repository over an encrypted WAN link.
Example 2: Use Azure Backup geo-redundant storage (GRS) which automatically replicates backup data to a paired Azure region without any manual intervention.
