Alternate telecommunications services testing is arranged through contractual agreements with service providers. The testing may occur in parallel with normal operations to ensure that there is no degradation in organizational missions or functions.
Practitioner Notes
This enhancement requires you to periodically test your alternate telecommunications services to ensure they work when needed.
Example 1: Quarterly, failover your internet traffic to your backup ISP for a few hours during a maintenance window and verify all critical applications remain accessible.
Example 2: Test your LTE/5G backup connection monthly by disabling the primary link and verifying that VPN, email, and critical web applications function over the backup connection.
