Supplemental Guidance
Operational mechanisms refer to processes that have been established to accomplish an organizational goal or a system that supports a particular organizational mission or business objective. Actual mission and business processes, systems, and/or facilities may be used to generate simulated events and enhance the realism of simulated events during contingency training.
Practitioner Notes
This enhancement requires training environments to use the same mechanisms (tools, systems, procedures) that would be used during an actual contingency event.
Example 1: Practice your Azure Site Recovery failover procedures in a training environment that uses the same recovery tools and dashboards as production.
Example 2: Train your backup operators on the actual Veeam or Commvault restore interface using a test restore environment, so they are familiar with the tools when it matters.
