This is a withdrawn control. Automated marking functionality has been moved to MP-3 (Media Marking). The concept was about systems automatically applying security labels to output, and it is now covered by media protection controls.
Example 1: Implement automated marking through Microsoft Information Protection sensitivity labels. Configure auto-labeling policies in Purview that scan documents for sensitive content patterns and automatically apply the appropriate CUI or internal label.
Example 2: For printed output, configure your print servers to automatically add classification headers and footers (banners) to every page. In Windows Print Management, use print processing scripts that insert banner text like "CUI — FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY" on every printed page.
